1.

What is the Raffles Programme?

The Raffles Programme is our unique 6-year Integrated Programme that allows students to bypass the GCE 'O' Level Examinations and progress seamlessly from RGS or RI to RI (JC). Students spend their first 4 years at RGS or RI and the remaining 2 years at RI(JC), The programme is jointly developed by the 2 Raffles Schools and is designed to meet the needs of the bright and talented in an environment that offers a balanced, broad-based, enriched and differentiated curriculum that lends equal emphasis to the academic and affective development of our students. Please click on The Raffles Programme for more information.

2.

Is RGS/ RI a Special Assistance Plan (SAP) school and are Higher Mother Tongue Languages offered?

RGS and RI are not SAP schools. But, Higher Mother Tongue Languages in Chinese, Malay and Tamil are offered. RGS and RI also make provisions for students to study these languages as Mother Tongue Languages as well.

3.

Will RGS/RI be offering the GCE `O' Level Programme and can students opt to pursue this programme?

As all Secondary 1 - 4 students in RGS and RI are in the Raffles Programme, they do not take the GCE 'O' Level Examinations. They proceed directly to Years 5 and 6 at RI(JC) where they are prepared for the GCE 'A' Level Examinations.

4.

Can students from RGS/RI seek lateral movement to another JC or Poly at the end of Secondary 4?

Students who seek lateral movement to another JC or polytechnic may present their combined school report for Secondary 3 - 4 to the Principal of the institution of their choice. The Principal of the institution will have the discretion to admit students from RGS and RI based on their performance in RGS or RI.

5.

If I fail to meet the promotional criteria for the next level of study, will I be asked to leave the school?

The performance of our students is closely monitored and those who require greater support and help will be given the necessary assistance. The practice of our present system is that no student, who has applied himself/herself with diligence to his/her school work and with whom the school is satisfied with his/her performance, will be asked to leave.
