How much flexibility is given to schools to select their students?
In general, schools can decide on the students whom they wish to admit as long as the process is meritocratic and transparent. However, students currently studying in our primary schools must achieve PSLE results that would enable them to be eligible for admission to the stream/course being offered by the school. For admission to the Integrated Programme for example, the student must qualify for the Express Stream.

How do we know that selection by schools is fair and above board?
Schools can indicate the quality of students that they wish to admit but the final selection and posting is handled by MOE. |

I am successful in the DSA testing of several schools. When must I decide which one to accept?
In October (date is subject to confirmation by MOE), all applicants with a Confirmed Offer, or who are on the Waiting List of a school, will be issued a School Preference Form by the MOE through their primary schools. Applicants will have to indicate their DSA choices, in order of preference, at their respective primary schools.
Students may only indicate schools which are listed in their School Preference Forms as these are the schools which have placed them in either the Confirmed or Waiting List. |

How do I make it known to the MOE that I wish to be considered for a school under the DSA and not under the Option Exercise?
Schools will keep MOE informed of the successful students in their DSA testing and selection exercises. MOE will centralise and post the students based on their options and their PSLE results to the DSA schools of their choice. |

Can I still apply to be considered under the Posting Exercise if I am being favourably considered under the DSA of another school?
You will not be considered under the Posting Exercise as you would have already been posted to the DSA school of your choice. |

If I were posted, under the DSA scheme, to a school that is not my first choice, can I change my mind and decide to be considered under the Central Posting Exercise (held just after the release of the PSLE results) or make an appeal to the school of my first choice?
Students who have been offered a place under the DSA will not be considered under the Central Posting Exercise. You may, however, make an appeal to the school of your first choice after the release of the Secondary One Posting Exercise result under the PSLE Supplementary Intake Exercise. |

If I have not been successful in the DSA, can I still opt for a school under the Posting Exercise?
If you are not successful in the DSA, you will be required to opt for schools under the Posting Exercise. |

Is there any other way for me to join RGS or RI if I am unsuccessful in the DSA application?
Students who are unsuccessful under the DSA application can still apply for admission to RGS or RI through the MOE central posting system based on their PSLE scores. Students must indicate either RGS or RI as their first choice in order to stand a good chance of being posted to the school. |

| 9. |
Will I be deprived of a place in the school because others were given priority admission via DSA?
Admission is based on merit, with more flexibility given to schools to admit some of their students based on a broader set of criteria than just academic results. The DSA initiative is to allow recognition of a more diverse range of student achievements and talents for student admission into schools. RI and RGS continue to admit students who excel in their PSLE and are posted by MOE to the schools. |
