DSA Year 1 at RI

Admissions of local students to Year 1 at RI in 2011

Please Read This Before You Proceed:
Application is open from 26 April 2010 (Monday) at 12 noon to 09 July 2010 (Friday) at 12 noon.

After submitting your online application form, print and submit the application form with copies of your supporting documents to the Raffles Institution (RI) Administration Office during office hours (Monday – Friday between 8:30am – 5.00pm). The RI Administration Front Office will be closed on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays.

Step 1 : Submit the Online Application Form

Complete the application form available here and submit it online.

After submitting the online form and receiving an acknowledgement, print a copy of the completed form and cover page by following the instructions on the website.

Please indicate a domain which you wish the DSA application to be considered under. We regret that we are unable to allow registration under more than one domain or the switching of domains midway through the application process.


Step 2 : Submit Application Form With Supporting Documents

Complete the application process by submitting a printout of the application form, cover page, supporting documents and application fee (S$50.00) to the Raffles Institution (RI) Administration Office within 10 working days. For online applications made after 5 July, the documents should be submitted by the closing date of 09 Jul 2010, 12 noon.

Payment can be made in cash or cheque (crossed and made payable to “Raffles Institution”).
Any applicant in need of financial assistance may apply to have his application fee waived.

Supporting documents to be submitted must include the following :-

  1. Photocopies of Primary 4 (SA2), Primary 5 (SA2) and Primary 6 (SA1) results from the report card.
    (Note: If the Primary 6 (SA1) results are not ready at the time of application, apply first and subsequently submit a photocopy of your results once it is ready. You may send it by post or drop it off at the RI Admin Office personally during office hours.)
  2. Records of CCA achievements, additional qualifications (highest level required only), awards, scholarships (for admission on the strength of special talents, if any).
  3. Results obtained in overseas schools (including translation if not in English) for students who were not in local Singapore schools for the past 2 years or part thereof.

Important Notes
Please note that your application is effective only after you have submitted the hardcopy application form, cover page, supporting documents and application fee to RI Administration Office.

Online submission without the hardcopy application form, cover page, supporting documents and application fee to RI Administration Office does not constitute a complete application.  We will only process applications that are complete.

Do not submit photographs or original copies of certificates as all documents/portfolios etc submitted in connection with an application are non-returnable. Please provide valid and working e-mail addresses and at least two mobile phone numbers for contact purposes.

Check e-mail accounts on a regular basis as contact for General Ability Test (GAT), auditions, selection tests and interviews will be done via e-mail.

STEP 3:

For students in GE classes applying under GE Domain

For students applying under English / Science / Mathematics / Mother Tongue Languages Domains For students applying under the Music/Visual Arts Domains For students applying under Sports Domain
Sit For GAT/Attend Interview. Sit for GAT and Attend Half-Day Selection Test, if shortlisted.

Attend Music Audition/Visual Arts Selection Test/Shortlisted To Sit For GAT.

Attend Sports Trial/Sit For GAT

Students who are currently in the Primary School GE Programme must apply under the GE Domain. 
Those who score 80% or higher for their overall Primary 6 marks (CA1+SA1 consisting of English, Mother Tongue, Mathematics & Science) will be exempted from the GAT.
Those who score less than 80% for their overall Primary 6 marks (CA1+SA1) will be required to sit for the GAT.
All GE Domain applicants will be required to attend an interview.

 

All applicants under the English / Science / Mathematics / Mother Tongue Languages Domains are required to sit for the GAT. 

Only shortlisted applicants will be required to attend the Half-Day Selection Test.

All applicants to go for an Audition/Practical Selection Test. Shortlisted applicants will be required to sit for the GAT

The minimum qualifications for Music Domain applicants are Practical Grade 7 Distinction and Theory Grade 5, or equivalent qualifications. Successful applicants for Music Domain are required to join the Music Elective Programme (MEP) and a musical CCA group offered to them according to their talents.

Sports Domain applicants will be required to sit for the GAT either before or after the Sports Profiling Test.

Please note that the Raffles Schools are not using the GAT instrument administered by Civil Service College.


Step 4 : Receive Notification Of Results

All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application in writing by 30 August 2010.
Please note that :-

  • Detailed results of the GAT, if any, will not be released; and
  • We regret that we are unable to provide information on application outcome or status over the telephone.
