The Raffles Programme curriculum framework uses 4 curriculum organizers to bridge the various disciplines so that a unified, rather than a fragmented world-view is presented. These curriculum organizers are: Macro-concepts, Philosophy, Character and Leadership Education, and Research Studies.
- Macro-concepts are the abstract mental constructs (big ideas) that link the various bodies of knowledge. In the Raffles Programme, 4 macro-concepts have been identified: Systems, Change, Model and Scale.
- Philosophy strikes at the heart of inquiry and our understanding of the world. The goal of philosophy is to question, so that we may be more certain about what we truly believe.
- Character and Leadership Education are curriculum organizers in that they promote the development of ‘Caring Thinking’. For instance, every discipline in the curriculum ‘cares’ about a certain area and aspect of our world. It is this ‘heart’ of the discipline which the Raffles Programme curriculum aims to uncover.
- The 4th curriculum organizer, Research Studies provides the platform for learners to integrate their knowledge and apply their understandings in the context of an exploration of an authentic issue or problem.
